Ms. Amy’s Background
My husband and I both grew up in the Bay Area but after college we landed here in Northern California, mostly because I loved UC Davis and didn’t want to leave! This is my second year at DMCS and I LOVE my job!
I completed my undergraduate degree at UC Davis and then went on to earn my credentials and Master’s Degree at CSU Sacramento. I hold a Multiple Subject, Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Severe teaching credentials. I then earned my Master’s Degree in Special Education. I have always loved the youngest population of a school! My first teaching position was a Special Day Class at Silveyville from 1995-2000. I left that position to begin my career as an at home mom and then eventually became a homeschool mom to our 4 kiddos from 2004-2015. When our first two kiddos were 3 and 1 I taught at a local private preschool with a Montessori emphasis. My husband and I have a daughter, almost 19 (starting college next week!) and three sons 17, 14 and almost 12. We are a busy family and are forever shuttling kids to their various activities. Our favorite place to be as a family is Santa Cruz.
When I am not being taxi mom I love to run and swim. I have run multiple marathons and half marathons and enjoy running through new cities. December of 2017 I completed my 7th marathon. My husband Drake and I have been married for 23 years and he is a Middle School teacher. We both enjoy the outdoors, and when we are not outside we love watching sports (Let’s go Oakland!) and movies.
